For those of you considering paid advertising it CAN be as simple as seeing a good looking blog and paying for an advert. But it certainly SHOULDN’T be. With a little research and thought you can save money AND drive more quality traffic to your website! Find out how with my simple list of to-do’s before buying your first advert:
1. Shop around. Many of us have made the mistake of purchasing the first attractive looking ad space available. You will get far more bang for your buck if you look at as many websites as possible.
2. Purchase one great ad, rather than several bad ones. This may sound obvious but far too many bloggers are trying to reach a wider market by purchasing ad spots on multiple websites. You will get far better traffic and a higher quality of visitor if you save up and invest on one large blog.

Well in this case most people are obsessed with making money online. If they see you doing reasonably well they will check your website frequently and often attempt to copy you. Subsequently you will make more money, and in doing this will drive more visitors to your website, and so on… continue reading

Throughout my years online I can’t help but notice certain trends happening on the internet. One of these is the shift from ‘we’ to ‘I’. This shift has not just occurred within the blogging community (although the number of individuals actively publishing is clearly rising all the time). It is more a general change in how people perceive each other on the internet, resulting in changes to how webmasters market themselves.
I remember several years ago in my early teens I ran a medium-sized website that no longer exists today. I clearly recall starting all of my blog posts with ‘We’ve been very busy’, ‘We are working on…’ or ‘We at mysite.com…’. For some unknown reason I believed that I would appear infinitely more professional by representing myself as some kind of large corporation or team. Looking back this approach was not only deceitful, but completely obvious. Of course I was just a kid with a website, and one of my readers could have probably pointed that out… continue reading
