CssGalleryList.com Launched!
Fantastic news! I’ve just launched the first of two online projects that I’ve been planning. CssGalleryList.com is based on the simple idea of speeding up the submission process to css gallery websites. Personally I’ve found that most galleries are no longer updated, or updated very very rarely… This is the problem with the previous Digg successes of ‘Css Gallery Lists’ - the lists quickly become useless as half the sites no longer update. The concept behind CssGalleryList.com is to maintain a monitored list of all regularly updated css galleries.
This should prove a far more useful tool for webmasters as they will know that their submissions will always be seen, and hopefully will be accepted.
Another major feature of the site is that I’ve linked directly to the submission pages for each gallery, thus speeding up the submission process even more! I used this list for Push Standards and it only took me 30 minutes to submit to all of them, as well as driving a lot of initial traffic to the site.
I would really appreciate opinions on the idea from you, as well as a Digg if you have the time.
Many thanks!
PS: My second project should be coming soon. It’s quite a lot more ambitious than CssGalleryList, and should be of real interest to the designer community in particular.

You should make the titles of each gallery clickable links to their home page. One might like to look at the type of submissions on each gallery before submitting. It would also make your site a useful one to start from when looking for inspiration.
Another idea, which is going a little above and beyond, but how about a single submit page on cssgallerylist.com? It could have the common fields from each of the gallery site submit pages - site title, your name, email, tags, description, etc. - and a series of checkboxes to identify which galleries you would like to submit to. Most have some form of authentication - 27 + 32 = ?? - which you could possibly include for the user to enter only when they want to apply to that gallery.
A) Yes, it is just a lazy way to avoid repeatedly entering data.
B) The sites may start to block submissions from your URL.
Thanks a lot for the thoughts Jamie. I love the idea of a single form, but just think that it’s impossible. Many of the galleries ask for very different things and also have spam protection against automated submissions.
I did think about manually submitting websites through a system like this - but obviously I would have to charge for my time otherwise I’d be flooded with submission requests. Do you think that people would pay say - $5 for such a service?
I’d pay you $5 a site to submit to all of them, it’s a necessary evil to do it but such a ball ache.
I’ve got a list of a few to do at the moment if you’re up for it? Drop me an email if you are…
I’ve emailed you Tim
Maybe you can check this list to update yours: http://www.wittysparks.com/2007/04/22/60-best-css-directories-you-would-die-to-watch/
Thanks Marko, I actually did know of that list. I’ve added all the functioning galleries to CssGalleryList already.
