Affiliate Confession Redesign!
I’m happy to announce the launch of AffiliateConfession’s new redesign, courtesy of PushStandards! I’ve been working closely with webmaster Alan LeStourgeon to give his blog the best possible new look.
For those of you who don’t already know AffiliateConfession, I highly recommend it, as it makes great reading. Alan updates very frequently with great affiliate related tips and tricks and his blog looks set to become VERY successful.
Alan was actually nice enough to dedicate an entire post to crediting me as the designer, a really nice gesture on his part. You can see the post here.
I’ve also added Affiliate Confession to my portfolio, so feel free to check out the casestudy there.
In true PushStandards form I couldn’t just post announcing the redesign. There are some great lessons to be learnt from the experience and I’d like to share them with you…
“Several days ago I wrote a guest post for John Chow about some basic things you can do to improve your blogging and earnings online. One of those things was to leave comments on other blogs. If you don’t think that works, you should probably talk to Tom Ross of Push Standards, because that’s exactly how Tom got my attention and more importantly, my business.”
“Since Tom is an independent “Young entrepreneur and web designer” as he states in his blog header, I thought I’d shoot him an email through his Hire Me page and see what we could work out.”
“Tom was incredibly helpful in working with me to get the design online and in working order. He researched problems, emailed me code a couple of times and patiently explained some issues to get things working just as I wanted.”
In conclusion, just remember the knock on effects of being a considerate professional. It doesn’t take much effort to treat your clients or visitors with respect, in fact it can feel effortless as you’ll enjoy yourself more doing so… The benefits of this are just like a bonus. As you can see in this example my hard work resulted in some great word-of-mouth marketing, and should hopefully let people know that I’m a good designer to work with. If you keep commenting, networking, and being generally friendly towards other people then good things will come back to you. Think of it as internet karma ![]()

Internet karma, I like that. Thanks again for a job well done Tom!
Cheers,
Alan
Heh, maybe it’ll become a well-known term
No problem about the design job, as I said I genuinely enjoyed it.
Kind Regards,
Tom.
I’m off to check Alan’s site! It seems interesting. I always try to be friendly and professional, online and offline. It definetly makes people trust you and like you more! (I’m trying to build a good Internet Karma :))
Yeah, it is very interesting, I’m a frequent visitor. Being friendly is a vital part of life, but not everybody seems to manage it…
Hi Tom,
I was at Alan’s site and read the post about you, that’s how I landed up on your website. Just wanted you to know that I simply loved the look of Alan’s site. Great job!
Cheers,
Austin
Thanks so much Austin :). I’m glad that you liked the design, and really appreciate your kind words.
Hey Tom, I love both the design and the content. You and Alan make a great team. Even subscribed.
You do some great design work, but I love that you gave us a backstage view of the process here. Thanks.
Mad props on that affiliate confession design Tom — very quality work
I’ll definitely keep you in mind when I decide to customize my theme!
Thanks Jim, it’s great to hear from you
Thanks also Andrew
I appreciated the kind words.
Hey Tom,
I really like the simple and soothing design sense. Your designs are really pleasing to the eyes. Nothing too cluttered or complex. It surely makes me feel to hang out and take a look around.
Will add your blog on my blog’s link list.
Keep up the good work.
Regards
Rohil
Thanks so much Rohil! I really appreciate the kind words and blogroll link. What is your blogs url out of interest?
Cheers,
Tom.
